LIVE OAK – A small shark washed ashore at Live Oak Beach Wednesday morning and a beachgoer dragged the fish back to the ocean, where it swam away, a witness told the Sentinel.
Christy Cook and her husband were walking at the beach between 18th and 21st Avenue near East Cliff Drive on Wednesday morning and they saw a shark flailing in the sand.
“It was still alive so my husband pulled it back into the ocean by its tail and it swam away,” Cook said. “The waves were very big today so we think the shark got forced onto land and could not get back in.”
The couple planned to report the sighting to authorities. It is unclear what type of shark washed ashore.
